Dental Implants

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is an excellent option to replace either one missing tooth or multiple missing teeth, as they closely resemble a natural tooth. A dental implant replaces the root of a tooth – a screw-like post made from titanium placed into the jawbone. Once placed and healing has finished, we place the visible part on top. Typically, the visual component will be a crown, bridge, or denture supported by the implant/s.

Dental Implants have many advantages. They look and feel like your own teeth, and because they are fused with the bone, they are permanent. Dental implants don’t require reducing or altering other adjacent teeth (like a dental bridge). This means your healthy teeth are left untouched. Dental Implants are very durable and, with reasonable care, can last a lifetime.

What is the process of getting an implant?

Champion Dental Centre can complete the entire Implant procedure in-house, which helps avoid the long wait times and significantly higher costs of specialist practices.

  • Our Dentist will place the screw-like post into your jawbone
  • As the jawbone heals it integrates with the implant, anchoring the implant securely to it
  • The healing period is usually three months. Depending on the case, a temporary restoration can be used to replace the missing tooth
  • Once healing is completed, we can then mount the permanent restoration solution over the implant/s
  • The crown or bridge will be custom made in a lab to match your existing teeth’ shape and colour
